Elizabeth Scharpf
Founder & Chief Instigating Officer
Elizabeth Scharpf is an inventor, entrepreneur, and investor who brings the best ideas to market by wearing what ever hat fits the occasion. Scharpf is currently Founder and CEO (or Chief Instigating Officer as she likes to say) of Sustainable Health Enterprises (or SHE).
Prior to SHE, Scharpf was starting up other ventures and advising businesses on growth strategies around the world at Cambridge Pharma Consultancy, the Clinton Foundation, and the World Bank. Scharpf is a Fulbright Scholar, has an MBA and MPA-International Development from Harvard and a BA from the University of Notre Dame. Despite all the academic acronyms, she thinks her best education has come from talking with those sitting next to her on buses around the world.

Connie Lewin
Director of Strategy, Global
Connie manages SHE’s business development efforts and directs its marketing initiatives for SHE Global. Prior to joining SHE, Connie was a Assistant Marketing Manager for a luxury beauty brand. She has also worked at Girls Quest, a youth development organization, for three years as a Development Associate. Connie received an A.B. in Politics from Princeton University and an MBA from the Simon School at the University of Rochester.
Alex Albert
Development Associate, Global
Alex contributes to SHE’s business development efforts and manages communications. Prior to joining SHE, Alex worked as a Program Assistant for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders and was a 2015 GlobeMed GROW intern for MAP Foundation in Thailand. Alex has also interned as a lab assistant for the University of Georgia’s Department Genetics connecting epigenetics and Alzheimer’s Disease. She received her Bachelors in Biology from Emory University.
Leah Putman
Technical Director, Global
Leah plans, develops, refines, and executes SHE’s technical development and project management processes for SHE28 global expansion in new countries. Leah brings 8+ years of experience working in both American industries and low-resource environments to produce innovative fiber-based products. Leah received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware.
SHE RWANDA
John Uwayezu
Managing Director, Rwanda
John brings nearly 10 years of experience in leading social enterprises in Rwanda. He served for seven years as One Acre Fund’s Director of Innovation, and later researched new projects for another social enterprise, BBOXX. John also brings experience in menstrual hygiene, having conducted market assessments for menstrual products in Rwanda. John joined SHE because it is leading the field in resolving the problems girls and women are facing in Rwanda In his free time, John likes to play basketball and take care of his family.
Jonas Tuyisenge
Finance and Administration Associate, Rwanda
Jonas was born and raised in Rwanda. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA) where he majored in accounting and finance and served as AUCA Guild President. He joined SHE-Rwanda in April 2018 after being an accountant at Waka Waka Rwanda Ltd, a Netherlands based social company that aims to improving community life through sharing solar energy among the people living off the grid. He has also worked as a Micro Loan Officer at the German Bank, AB-Bank International.
Jonas has attended many different leadership trainings in Rwanda, Kenya, and Ghana and likes to learn new things and adapt to new environments. In his free time, Jonas enjoys sports, music, and socializing with family and friends.
Richard Habimana
Production Engineer, Rwanda
Ariane Dusenge
Health and Hygiene Manager, Rwanda
Ariane brings over 10 years of experience managing reproductive health programs, most recently serving as an Adolescent and Reproductive Health Expert for Health Development and Performance (HDP) in Rwanda. She worked on an HIV/AIDS project for Health Poverty Action for four years prior to her role at HDP. Ariane is also a nurse and midwife, with degrees in public health. Ariane joined SHE because of the passion she has for promoting adolescent sexual and reproductive health and loves the confidence that SHE gives girls to pursue their studies with everything they need to feel free while at school. In her free time, she enjoys taking care of her family and cooking.
Flora Ufitinema
Impact Assessment and Projects Associate, Rwanda
Graduated in Agricultural economic and Agri Business at Huye Campus (Former National University of Rwanda). Flora serves Gardens for Health International during the process of designing agriculture trainings for families suffering from malnutrition. She was attracted to join SHE for how they use already harvested banana trunks to help girls (and women) live their live confidently and comfortably and also generate income. She dreamed to be part of a team that provides solutions to people and improve lives. In her free time Flora likes to sing and spend time with friends.
Jean Claude Maombi
Supply Chain Associate, Rwanda
Jean Claude joined SHE after gaining 7 years of supply chain experience with One Acre Fund in Rwanda. Most recently Jean Claude was their Warranty Manager for Logistics and Supply Chain. Jean Claude also has a degree in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences. He was excited to join SHE because it is a social enterprise that help girls and women to get affordable sanitary pads easily in Rwanda!
Deicole Ishimwe
Sales and Marketing Associate, Rwanda
Deicole joined SHE in January 2019 after gaining more than 5 years of experience at One Acre Fund where we was a New Product Manager. Deicole was interested in working with SHE to support women and girls who do not have the ability to buy pads and to increase accessibility to affordable, natural pads. In her free time, Deicole likes to walk and spend time with her family and friends.
